New guests

Your first visit to Balm

Never been to a spa, or new to us? Here’s everything to know before you come: when to arrive, what to wear, how a treatment works and how to get the most from your time.

A calm treatment room at the spa

Before you arrive

Three things to know

A little preparation means your treatment starts calm, on time and exactly how you’d like it.

Arrive 15 minutes early

Time to check in, change into a robe and enjoy the steam room. Late arrivals may have a shorter treatment.

A short health form

We email a two-minute form after you book. It covers injuries, allergies, medications and pregnancy, so your therapist can plan safely.

Nothing to bring

Robes, slippers, towels, lockers, toiletries and hair dryers are all provided. Leave valuables at home.

Spa etiquette

Keeping Balm calm

A few simple courtesies keep the spa peaceful for everyone, including you.

  • Phones on silent, and calls kept to the front entrance
  • Quiet voices in the steam room and the garden lounge
  • Swimwear or a robe in the steam room, please
  • Skip heavy perfume and alcohol on the day of your treatment
  • Let us know if you feel unwell; we’ll happily move your booking
  • Guests 16 and over only, so the spa stays quiet

Relax and let us take care of the rest. Speak up any time about pressure, temperature or music.

4

Unwind

Rest in the garden lounge for as long as you like, then settle up and book your next visit at the desk.

Questions

First visit FAQ

What should I wear?

Anything comfortable. You’ll change into a robe and slippers here. For a massage or body treatment, undress to your comfort level; you’re always covered with a sheet.

Is it OK to talk during my treatment?

Absolutely, or not at all. Many guests drift off. Your therapist will follow your lead and only check in about pressure and comfort.

Can I shower before or after?

Yes. Our locker rooms have rain showers with plant-based shampoo, conditioner and body wash, plus hair dryers and straighteners.

How old do you have to be?

Guests must be 16 or older. Guests aged 16 and 17 need a parent or guardian to sign the health form and stay on site during the visit.

How much should I tip?

Gratuity is never expected, but 18–20% of the treatment price is customary in the US. You can add it by card or cash at the front desk, and it goes to your therapist in full.
