How often should you get a massage?

It is one of the questions we hear most at the front desk, and there is no single right answer. How often you book depends on why you come in: to unwind, to keep a sore back in check, or to recover from training. Here is the rhythm we suggest for each.

For stress and better sleep: every 4 weeks

A monthly Swedish massage is enough for most people to notice the difference: easier sleep, fewer tension headaches and a calmer mood. The effect builds over time, so a regular hour does more than an occasional long session.

For chronic tightness: every 2 to 3 weeks, then monthly

If you sit at a desk all day or carry stress in your shoulders, start with deep tissue every two or three weeks for the first couple of months. Once the knots stop coming straight back, stretch the gap to monthly. Tell your therapist what you do all day; posture matters as much as pressure.

For training and recovery: around your schedule

Runners, cyclists and golfers do best with a lighter massage a day or two after a hard session, and a firmer one in an easy week. Avoid deep work the day before a race or a big match.

Between visits

  • Drink plenty of water on the day of your massage and the day after.
  • A warm bath with Epsom salts helps after deep tissue work.
  • Stand up and stretch your chest and shoulders every hour at your desk.
  • Sleep on your back or side with a pillow that keeps your neck straight.

Not sure where to start? Book a Swedish Relaxation Massage and ask your therapist. They will suggest a rhythm that fits your body, your week and your budget.
